Approximately 60 to 70 members and their families came out for the Newburgh Yacht Club’s annual Family Day. It was held Saturday November 1, 2014. It was a cold , windy and sometimes wet day. By attending Family Day our members were able to warm up and brighten their spirits.
Since the temperatures were so chilly our resident Chef Edward “Moon” Mullins prepared some delicious items to take the chill off. A highlight was a steaming pot of Italian Wedding Soup. He made it from scratch including his own homemade chicken meatballs that served as one of the key ingredients. It was really good with lots of vegetables, pasta, fresh spinach, all in a savory broth.
Moon also christened our new electric double ovens in the kitchen by baking pans of delectable macaroni and cheese. The ovens were just installed by new member, Brian Reid, (right) They were purchased with funds raised through our beverage fund.
The event went on all afternoon. By checking out the picture gallery you can see the members and their families had a good time. Thank you to all the members who volunteered and helped set up, cook and clean, making the day a success.
