More than 80 members of the Newburgh Yacht Club and guests enjoyed a special Dock Party on January 17, 2015. It was an Italian Dinner Party. The food was Splendido!
From the appetizers which included prosciutto wrapped melon, eggplant rollatini; Italian Wedding Soup and main entrees of porchetta, chicken picatta, puttanesca sauce and pasta our Chefs, Edward “Moon” Mullins and Bob Miller, put their culinary skills into high gear.
They stepped in to handle the cooking at the last moment when Gil Scarazzini who was scheduled to be the chef had a devastating fire at his home a week before the dock party. His home was severely damaged. Gil and his family lost everything, but no one was injured.
Gil was able to make an appearance at the dock party. He was presented with a donation from club members. He thanked the club for its support and noted the donation would be put to good use. Everyone wished Gil and his family well.
Vice Commodore, Ed O’Neill, thanked all the members who did such a great job putting on the party. He was also glad to see the support for Gil and good turnout for this event including from many of our new members.
