The change to Lobster Tails and Filet Mignon Steaks was a success.
These were comments from members and guests.
The steaks were tender and good. The tails were easier to eat than the whole lobsters.
Members of the Newburgh Yacht Club were out in force working to make Lobesterfest 2018 a Success. They were lead by Co-chairmen Bill Himaras and Jim Jankun. About 135 members and guests attended the gathering on Saturday September 22.
The day featured food from lunchtime through dinner. Hamburgers and hot dogs got the grills warmed up. Featured dishes were steamed clams, baked shrimp, Greek Salad, Manhattan and New England Clam Chowders. Broiled Lobster Tails and Grilled Filet Mignon Steaks were served as the main course, which also included corn on the cob, Spanakopita, and baked potato.
This was the first year lobster tails and steak were served instead of whole lobsters. Reactions from the members and guests were good. The cooking crew cut the steaks fresh. They were cooked to perfection on our grills and were tender and tasty. The lobster tails were stuffed and broiled by our chefs.
The chowders and baked shrimp also got good reviews.
Linda Dombroski and Risa Himaras did an excellent job coordinating the prizes and raffles. Members and guests enjoyed buying tickets and winning prizes. Thanks to our members who donated prizes and gifts for the raffles.
Past Commodore Garry Dugan put on his fundraising cap. He and his crew did an excellent job with the 50/50 drawing.
The singing duo of Henderson & Osinski provided a musical accompaniment to our event. Their songs and presentation always seem to help people get into that relaxed frame of mind so they can enjoy themselves.
It was a great day. All the Chefs, Workers and Members that helped deserve our thanks.
