Our Lobster Fest Co-Staring Clams
Clams on the half-shell started stealing the show at the Newburgh Yacht Club Lobster Fest as they made their first appearance on a brand new clam shucking station designed and created for the club by Vice Commodore Jim Distefano. Jim is shown here setting up the new clam serving creation.
Talk about a professional set up this is it. Ice trays with drains for keeping the clams ice cold and in easy reach of the clam shuckers. An elevated serving tray where the shucked clams sit on shaved ice waiting for hungry takers.
It also has a highly polished wood serving bar where the clam lover can add their favorite toppings, including Jim’s secret sauce. Here Commodore Bill Chesser adds some fixins to his clams as the line of clam lovers look on. Clam shuckers, Jim Distefano and George Winters, shown here and all the members who helped with the clams had a very busy afternoon. Our thanks to them. In addition to clams on the half shell, steamed clams were also served.
