Italian Dinner Party

This year our Annual January Party is going to be an Italian Dinner.

Member Gil Scarazzini has created a very special menu that he’ll be preparing.   Just looking at the menu, I can’t wait.

The event is for Newburgh Yacht Club Members and their guests on Saturday evening January 17, 2015.

Hor d’oeuvres begin at 5:00 p.m.

Gil is highlighting the appetizers with a couple of classic dishes.

1. Prosciutto and Melon — The dry cured Italian Ham and the sweet melon combine to create the perfect taste treat to start the evening off.
2. Eggplant Rollatini — Fresh Eggplant, Italian Cheese, Tomato Sauce and seasonings are baked into a creamy, savory, comforting dish that will let you know that more good food is on the way.

Soup and Salad:   Gil is going with the much loved, Italian Wedding Soup.   He’ll be having as some of the ingredients; chicken mini meatballs; escarole and and perhaps some Orzo pasta.  If its going to be a cold evening just think how good this soup will be.  Everyone will be feeling better once they have some.

Entrees: Porchetta — Italian Style Roast Pork.    Every good cook Italian Cook has their own take on this savory dish.   I’m anxious to see how Gil will be presenting it.   He knows his way around pork by his excellent style carving the roast pig at the club’s pig roast last summer.   It’s going to be good.  Especially when you add some….

Puttanesca Sauce —  Gil’s going to be serving his own special version.  This is a tangy and flavorful sauce made from tomatoes, olive oil, capers, olives, crushed red peppers and anchovies.

Also included for your enjoyment:   Wine, Beer, Soda, Water.

Dessert and Coffee and Tea will be served

I think this dinner is going to be a hot ticket.  Where else are you going to get a meal like this for only $18.00 a person?

Just having the appetizers and soup would cost more than this at most of the restaurants just south of us down the river.

Children 12 and under can attend for free.

In case of inclement weather this event will be postponed until the next afternoon, Sunday January 18, 2015, at 2:30 p.m..   This would be announced on our club website if necessary.
