The Newburgh Yacht Club’s Annual Golf Outing was held Monday July 21, 2014 at the Stony Ford Golf Course in Montgomery. The slideshow above gives you a look at the day the in pictures. The golfers started arriving at the clubhouse of the Orange County run course at 9:00 a.m..
They signed in and purchased a supply of tickets for the days raffles.
Then it was off to the warm ups at the driving range, with great views of the Wallkill River Valley, and the putting green.
Golfers put on your sun screen was the word from the course master as he gave directions and rules for the day to the golfers as they started off to play. Lunch was served at the Turn on the course.
Dinner and Awards were held back at the Newburgh Yacht Club. Donna Sabo and her helpers had the appetizers and hor d’oeuvres ready for the hungry golfers as they arrived at the club. Michael and the crew from Mama Theresa’s Restaurant Catering was setting up getting ready for serving a steak dinner.
Golf Committee Chairperson, Peggy O’Neill, thanked everyone for coming, her committee and all who helped with the event. She presented the awards and prizes including dozens of raffles items.
- Top Teams were Andy Harcher’s Group with 61 and Alex’s Marine with 63
- Alex from Alex’s Marine was Closest To The Pin for the men
- Gayle Russel was Closest To The Pin for the women
- Andy Harcher won the Straightest Drive Award
Many club members who weren’t golfers joined in the festivities by attending the dinner at the club.
Mama Theresa’s finished the dinner by serving its signature dessert, Bananas Foster.
Chairperson Peggy reminded all to thank the sponsors of the event the next time you see them or patronize their business.
Commodore Bill Chesser thanked Peggy, her committee and the participants. He said that by the next golf outing the golfers will be able to come back to the club and have a swim in our new pool.
This was our seventh golf outing. The funds raised by the golf outings are the primary reason our club is able to replace the swimming pool which was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. The construction plans for the new pool are currently undergoing final approval from Orange County.
