Members of the Newburgh Yacht Club gave a patriotic welcome to the more than 20 boats in the 2015 “Salute to Freedom” Flotilla as they passed by our Commodore’s Point on Saturday July 11, 2015.
As you can see in the video we had an excellent turnout of members welcoming to the Flotilla. Dotty Centolanza donated large flags to help decorate the railings at Commodore’s Point. Art and Ellen Livesey brought the small flags for waving.
All of our members enjoyed saluting the Wounded Warriors, Gold Star Families, and Purple Heart Recipients who were being given rides on the boats.
The Flotilla is an annual event sponsored by the Cortland Yacht Club in conjunction with the Elks Club of Ossining.
One our our Newburgh Yacht Club members, Jim Distefano, took part in the Flotilla with his boat. His passengers included military service veterans from our club.
Thank you to Jennifer Brenner and Edward “Moon” Mullins for taking the pictures for our video presentation.
Special thanks to all the members who took part in the the salute to the Flotilla.
