Members of the Newburgh Yacht Club at their July General Meeting voted overwhelming in favor of giving the go ahead to proceed with the final planning for the construction of a dining deck for Pamela’s on the Hudson Restaurant. The restaurant is located on the second floor of the club’s clubhouse building. It has been a tenant of the yacht club for 13 years.
Newburgh Yacht Club Commodore Greg Dombroski said the Board of Directors will now work with the restaurant on details of the final plans. Once the engineering and permits are in place the construction of the project, funded by the restaurant could begin.
Restaurant owner, Pamela Resch made a presentation on the deck proposal at the meeting Friday, July 15, 2016. She said the deck would be on the north side if the building. It would extend off the second floor, extending out 17 feet over a grass area.
Keeping competitive with the restaurants on the waterfront was the main reason she was requesting the deck. She said outside dining is very popular today. Having this feature will be a benefit to her business, she said.
During a question and answer period it was explained that the deck will likely have steel beams to allow for an open style construction underneath. This would give the club room for placing chairs and tables under it for member use. The deck would be constructed so that stormwater would not penetrate through, keeping the area underneath dry.
Resch passed out copies of her new menu and thanked members for their business. She said, she now has one of the best kitchen staffs ever and hopes that members who haven’t tried the restaurant will do so. She said she is open Wednesday through Saturday starting at 4:00 PM.

I was unable to make the meeting, with that in mind I’d like to applaud the membership for coming to this decision. the deck will not only provide a much needed competitive edge for the restaurant but will also increase the value of our entire operation. Pam is a progressive business person and a solid partner with the Club truly a positive, symbiotic relationship. Clearly a step forward

I hope this will ensure a better financial future for Pam so we can get a fair revenue from the restaurant year round for years to come. In years past we have had to make some exceptions ? Hopefully this will increase our revenue and her business.
