Commodore Greg Dombroski (left) is leading members of the Newburgh Yacht Club saluting the 2016 Freedom Flotilla. It came up the river to the Newburgh Beacon Bridge and swung around passing in front of our club’s Commodore’s Point at 1:00 Saturday afternoon July 23, 2016.
Thirty boats took part in the flotilla as is came through the Newburgh area. Nine boats from the Newburgh Yacht Club were included. The Flotilla is an annual event sponsored by the Ossining Elks Club and Cortland Yacht Club which hosts a group of Wounded Warriors; their families; Purple Heart Recipients; veterans and Gold Star Families. The guests are treated to the boat ride and BBQ dinner.
The Flotilla gets a warm welcome on it’s tour of the river. Here at the Newburgh Yacht Club we were glad and proud to show our support.
