With the weather getting nicer, the pool at the Newburgh Yacht Club is getting prepared for operation and CPR Certification classes are being scheduled for club members.
Whenever the pool is open, we’re required by law to have a person certified in CPR signed in and available on scene in the event of an emergency at the pool.
Past Commodore Greg Dombroski is planning on scheduling three certification classes that will take place this month or in May depending on the availability of the instructor. The sessions will be on a Monday or Thursday evening. All sessions will start at 6:00 pm in our club house. Class size is limited to 8 persons.
The classes are paid for by the club and provided free to members and family members who will use the training to help keep our pool open for all our members and guests to use.
The Orange County Department of Health regulations for our pool call for our CPR Certifications to be updated annually. This means our members must attend an accredited CPR/AED session such as given at the club each year. (CPR /cardiopulmonary resuscitation ) (AED/automated external defibrillator )
Greg says the more members we have certified the better. This means we can provide longer pool hours to our members with less disappointments. The disappointments come if someone wants to swim and there’s no CPR person. If there’s no CPR person signed on the pool must remain closed.
Wondering if you can qualify for CPR Certification? Ask Greg on the form below.
