More than 15 boats took part in our Blessing of the Fleet boat parade.
We were happy to have, Deacon Peter Haight of the Scared Heart Catholic Church in Newburgh, back with us to do the Blessing Ceremony.
Peter was ill last year and couldn’t be with us, everyone was glad to see him in fine spirits to help us start our boating season this year.
The program included a remembrance for our club members and members of club member families who passed away during the past year. The names of those remembered were read and a bell was tolled. Then flowers were placed in the Hudson to remember each of the persons who passed.
Commodore Richard Bremer officiated at the official flag ceremony and introduced our officers and directors.
Many of whom were out on their boats in our boat parade. It was one of the largest parades in recent memory. Each boat got a warm round of applause as it passed the reviewing stand and was announced by our Master of Ceremonies, Art Livesey.
A delicious brunch and chilled mimosa’s were served following the ceremonies.
More than 65 members and guests attended our Blessing of the Fleet event. Commodore Bremer wishes all our members a good and safe boating season.
Special thanks to Risa Himaras and Greg Dombroski for their help in providing some of the videos and photos used in this post.
