Lifetime Achievement Award to Bill Chesser
Bill Chesser a Past Commodore, now serving as club director was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Commodore John Disciglio said he felt compelled to give this honor because of the many years of service Bill has given to the club and for the active role that he still maintains.
Currently Bill is running our fuel dock. The Commodore says Bill makes sure all the equipment is in working order and passes inspection, and that we have ample gas and diesel for our boating customers traveling up and down the river.
Bill was Commodore of the club in the years following Hurricane Sandy. His guidance in building back the marina and grounds are evident in what we now have here at the Newburgh Yacht Club*.
Commodore Disciglio said he decided on his own to give the award to Bill. He said, Bill is the kind of member we need to emulate. He does not worry about work hours. If he sees something that needs to be done, he just takes care of it.
Bill has a long involvement with the club, his parents were members.
Congratulations to Bill Chesser and his wife Cindy on this award.*

Swimming Pool Repaired
As the meeting got underway the swimming pool was being refilled. A leak that had prevented members from using the pool had been repaired. An email will be sent to members when the pool is fully operational.
Wakes & Horns
Safety Chairman Ed O’Neill and Fleet Captain Dan Galage both had “Wakes” and “Horns” in their remarks to the club. Whether you are a boater or jet skier no wakes are permitted in the marina. “Sounding your horn.” Here is what Ed and Dan said at the meeting. If your boat does not have a horn loud enough to be heard throughout the marina get yourself an air horn. Sound the horn once before you move your boat. Sound your horn again as you near the mouth of the marina to let any boat entering know you are coming out. Boats leaving the marina have the right of way. When entering the marina try to approach from the south so you can see if any boats are coming out and sound your horn.
It’s Cool Inside
This Was a Very Cool Meeting: Even though it was hot and humid outside it was cool inside for the meeting. This was the first General Meeting to be held in the newly air-conditioned clubhouse. The Commodore thanked Rich Bremer for his help in getting the system here.
