Intermittent raindrops just cleared the shoreline giving us some pleasant weather to begin our blessing ceremony.
Past Commodore Greg Dombroski handled the opening remarks, the pledge of allegiance and introduction of our officers and directors. He was filling in for Commodore John Disciglio who was ill.
Greg welcomed Deacon Peter Haight telling him how happy we were to have him once again back with us doing the service.
The Deacon acknowledged the good wishes. He remarked about how much he enjoys coming here and the substantial number of years he’s been able to participate.
The Deacon did the Blessing Service leaving us with kind and wise words and wishes for a safe and enjoyable boating season.
A Spectacular Boat Parade
We had one of the largest turnouts of boats in recent years for the parade. Art Livesey, served as parade announcer and invited club members in the audience to come to the shore rail and cheer and clap as our members boats passed by the reviewing area.
Each boat by was blessed by the Deacon. Following the ceremony, the Deacon went to our marina and blessed the boats in our docking areas, as he does every year.

Remembrances and Memorial
Deacon Peter Haight began this portion of our Blessing by talking about how important it is to take time like this event to remember those who are no longer with us. It could be someone you have loved, knew, worked with; or been a friend too. Doing this can help keep that person alive in your memory for years and years to come, said the Deacon.
He gave a blessing and read prayers for those we are remembering.
The names of those listed below were read aloud and a bell was tolled for each.
At the conclusion of the reading the names, family and friends threw a flower for each onto the Hudson.

PAST PRESENT FUTURE
This is a little side bar story for our memorial service. It was 20 years ago during the Blessing of the Fleet that the plaque was presented on our Memorial Monument. The member whose name you see below authored the words. Back then he said he thought long and hard and hoped he made the right choice of what to say in just a few words.
We think he did. His name was read this year as a deceased member.
Let’s remember his contribution to our club’s history when we view the memorial.

Past CommodoreIt’s Brunch Time!
After all the boating and blessing it was time for some food.
