When we arrived for the Fall Clean Up Day, which is a mandatory workday for all boating members, it was so foggy we couldn’t see the Newburgh Beacon Bridge from our clubhouse.
As the Club’s Work Program chairperson Joe Pillitteri got us out to start the first projects the foghorn on the bridge was sounding. The fog did clear, and we ended up with a beautiful day.
Much of the work focused on getting the club grounds and marina ready for winter. We had a large crew working throughout the day on preparing the floating docks to sustain ice buildup, The canopy and furniture at Commodore’s Point were removed. Outdoor furniture at our pool and barbeque/picnic area were stowed. The last big project of the day was closing the gas dock and storing it for the winter. To wrap up the day members were provided with a luncheon of hamburgers and hot dogs.
