Immediate Past Commodore Gregory Dombroski presided over the General Membership Meeting of the Newburgh Yacht Club held on April 21, 2021. Commodore John Disciglio and Vice Commodore Christopher Carfora were on vacation.
The main item of business was a vote on a by-laws change. The change to eliminate term limits for the Commodore, Vice Commodore and Fleet Captain was approved by three-quarters of the voting members. The earlier by-laws limited members to having three consecutive terms in these positions.
Greg announced with sadness that John Vargo, the publisher of the magazine Boating on the Hudson, had passed away. He will be missed for his coverage of our hobby and sport.
Two new members of our club were also introduced:
Larry and Angie Holzapfel. They are from Montgomery and are longtime boaters who will be on D-Dock with their 29-foot Sea Ray. They have four children as well as grandchildren. Larry is an Environmental Consultant and Angie is a retired nurse. They now work together at their business, Quality Environmental Solutions & Technologies.
Mike Murphy “Murph” and his wife Connie will be on C-Dock with their Cruiser Yacht 3075 Rogue. They have two dogs, Cooper, and Mimi, who enjoy boating. Murph, a boater for most of his life, is an Arborist with Wickes Arborist and Davey Tree Expert Company.
